This Chaumet model has just a beautiful aesthetic. It has a round dial with cream color, small black batons for hours on an outer circle with thin batons for each minute. Only 12 o’clock comes with an Arabic numeral. At 6 o’clock comes the moon shape window for the power reserve graduated up to 48. The hands are black with a stick shape. The watch has a large 18K yellow gold bezel. The crown is in gold with a black stone cabochon. It has an exhibition crystal back case presenting the automatic movement with caliber ETA 2892-2 and 21 jewels. On the outer back case is engraved “Automatic - .750 – 12A – 283”. The watch has all the 18K yellow solid gold marks on the lugs. The watch comes with a black crocodile Chaumet strap and the original 18K yellow solid gold buckle. The width between lugs is 18mm.
Chaumet was founded in 1780 when Marie Etienne Nitot came to Paris as jewelry artist targeting the French aristocracy like Napoleon the first, his personal jeweler. In 1815, the son of Nitot gave his business to Jean-Baptiste Fossin. Receiving the help of his son, both create luxurious jewelries and gain exclusive clients such as Louis Philippe and the Duchess du Berry. After the French revolution, the company develops his international operations in opening a store in London, managed by Jean Valentin Morel. Once again, the brand attracts British royalty like the queen Victoria. In 1885, Joseph Chaumet takes over the company and changes it to his name. In 1987, the company went through a financial scandal and filed for bankruptcy. Investcorp took over the company before to sell it to LVMH in 1999. Chaumet watches are more jewelry pieces with precious stones and exclusive material. Some models are iconic like the “Belle Epoque” or the “Second Empire”. The most recent models are the “Dandy”, “Class One”, Attrape-moi si tu m’aimes”, “Email” and “Khesis et Class One Vivid Blue”.
