The name Nomos dates from 1906 as used by Clemens Guido Muller and Karl Nierbauer but ended in 1911 after a legal fight with Lange & Sohn prohibiting to use the name “Glashutte”. 1991, Roland Schwertner had decided to re-establish the small pirate brand “Nomos Glashutte SA”. It has been very hard for Schwertner to revive the brand as his competitors tried to block him again in using “Glashutte”, however, he was able to prove that in spite of his use of the Eta 7001 caliber, more than 50% of the components of his watches were genuinely produced in Glashutte. With the classic designer models such as the “Tangente”, now Nomos is going from strength to strength. In 2005, Nomos joined the exclusive circle of authentic manufactures with its “Tangomat” model, made in Glashutte.
