Desirable Helbros Alarm watch with two tones cream dial mixing index and odds Arabic numerals. On the dial in circle comes the number 30, name of Helbros and Alarm. At two o’clock comes a crown for the alarm and 4 o’clock to set-up time. The hands are in gold and originals, indirect second hand and alarm hand with red arrow. The back case is in stainless steel. The movement comes with an AS 1475 caliber (CA 1954-1970). It is a manual wind alarm. It has a power reserve of 46 hours with 12 seconds alarm. On the movement comes engraved “Helbros Watch Co. – HXW – Swiss – 233 jewels.
Helbros is a Swiss watch company founded in 1913 by the Helbein’s brothers. The company was registered in 1918. The goal was to design and manufacture a quality timepiece that could be affordable by middle class working people. In 1960’s, the company designed a watch that actually told lunar time. In 1972, it called with the Dingo model, which had a lot of success within the collector world. Helbros also offered electric and electronic watch that all employ the West German PUW movements.
The company came to the United States and became “Helbros Watch Corporation. Then the company was taking over by “S&S Time Corporation” which is a sub brand of Jules Jurgensen. Helbros has only ever been in the hands of three ownerships.
