Excellent condition, Wakmann chronograph France in stainless steel dated around the 1960’s. The watch has a grey silver dial with Arabic numerals at 6 and 12 o’clock otherwise comes batons for every five minutes. It has a red outer telemeter scale to 12 miles and a blue tachymeter graduated to 1000 UHP. Two sub dials, seconds at 9 o’clock and minutes at 3 o’clock. It has original Dauphine hands and luminous are very good. The watch has a screw back case with engraved outside “Water protected – All Stainless steel – Antimagnetic”. Inside the back case is engraved “Wakmann Watch Co. – France”. The watch has chronograph movement with caliber Venus 188. The watch comes with a brown leather band.
Mr. Wakmann was born in Russia and started his watch business in Portugal in the early 1940’s. In 1943, he travelled across the Atlantic Ocean to establish his business in the United States. After a few years, Wakmann was appointed as the official producer for the US army. At the same time as doing watches, Wakmann developed professional timing instruments for the aviation industry. Wakmann watches quickly gained the reputation as precise high-end timepieces. In 1947, Wakmann Watch Company is listed in the US Stock Exchange. It also did a JV with Breitling Watch Co. In the 21st century, Wakmann continues to explore new horizons, providing modern, practical and durable wristwatches.
