Rene Bannwart founded Corum in 1955 with his uncle Gaston Ries and uncle daughter. The trio wanted to produce “Fresh” watches and not warmed-up styles of the previous decade. The first collection in 1956 kept promise. In 1958, a major design element became the talk of the year. When a supplier of dials failed to deliver on time, he had no choice to make dials without numbers “Sans Heures” and became right a way very popular. Only the name of the brand and the key, logo of the brand, appear on the dial. Other success models were the Golden Bridge, Romulus or the Admiral Cup just to name a few. Since 1999, Severin Wundermann owns Corum.
